Lakers: Rally from 21-point deficit in 116-112 win over Clippers

The Lakers won three of four over the Clippers this season, winning the season series for the first time since 2011-12.

In the biggest comeback of his 21-season career, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar led a 21-point fourth-quarter comeback to stun his team’s crosstown rivals, pulling out a 116-112 win in thrilling fashion.

The 39-year-old James was the center of it all, hitting five of his season-high seven 3-pointers while outscoring the Clippers by himself in the fourth quarter (19-16).

The comeback came as the teams played the final regular-season game against each other as co-tenants of Arena, formerly Staples Center.

The Los Angeles Clippers were down Paul George and Ivica Zubac, which amplified the urgency for the Lakers to win that game.

The furious comeback is the biggest fourth-quarter deficit James has overcome in his illustrious NBA career. Lue said he’s the coach of the team and that it is his job to make sure the Clippers stay the course

It was in this era that Lakers legends Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal delivered three straight NBA Finals, with Bryant then winning two more rings in the purple and gold.

The Lakers have ruled out Jalen Hood-Schifino, Maxwell Lewis, Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent and Christian Wood.

Usually facing each other four times annually in a rivalry known as the Hallway Series because their locker rooms are about 100 feet apart in the same corridor.
